2003 Salmon Summit: Summit to Shore

Join us on a virtual journey as we migrate from Summit to Shore looking at the past, present and future of salmon habitat efforts in the Nooksack basin. The conference will explore the forks of the river, the mainstem and its tributaries, and the estuary and nearshore habitats. The Salmon Summit is sponsored by the Nooksack Recovery Team.

The Nooksack Recovery Team (NRT) encourages your business, organization, or agency to bring displays, exhibits and posters to Salmon Summit 2003. The more interactive your display, the better! Displays are to be set up in the Terrace Room and hallway at 7:30 a.m.

Non-NRT member/for-profit business: $100

Canyon Creek Fish Passage
The lower 4.5 miles of Canyon Creek [link to Canyon Creek Watershed of the Month], a major tributary to the North Fork Nooksack, are important spawning habitat for North Fork early chinook, which are listed as threatened with extinction under the federal Endangered Species Act. (At river mile 4.5, there is a natural waterfall that prevents further migration upstream.) The creek is also considered a priority area for a second threatened species, bull trout.
